Notaría Virtual: Transforming the Legal Sector in Spain

Throughout my years as a Senior Software Engineer and Architect at Distribuciones Notariales Group, I've had the privilege of leading the development and management of our flagship product: Notaría Virtual (notin.es/notariavirtual).

The notary sector has always been characterized by its rigor, formality, and traditionally, a heavy reliance on paper and physical processes. Our goal with Notaría Virtual wasn't just to digitize documents, but to radically transform how notaries operate, interact with clients, and manage their daily workflows.

What is Notaría Virtual?

Notaría Virtual is a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform designed specifically to cover all the operational needs of a modern notary office. It allows notaries and their staff to manage files, coordinate signatures, communicate securely with clients, and automate repetitive tasks that previously consumed countless hours.

On-Demand Multi-tenant Architecture

One of the greatest technical challenges in creating Notaría Virtual was designing the architecture. Every notary handles highly confidential information and requires an isolated and secure environment.

To solve this, we implemented a self-distributed multi-tenant architecture. This means that when a new notary signs up, the system instantly provisions a dedicated environment, ensuring that one client's data never mixes with another's. All of this happens on demand, without manual intervention from our systems team, thanks to our robust DevOps automation using tools like Docker, Proxmox, and Puppet.

Security as a Core Pillar

Operating in the Spanish legal sector means there is zero margin for error when it comes to information security.

Currently, I am spearheading the technical initiative for Notaría Virtual to achieve the highest level of certification under the National Security Scheme (ENS). This has involved redesigning protocols, ensuring end-to-end encryption, and implementing rigorous automated audits that guarantee regulatory compliance at all times.

Modernizing the User Experience

We come from an era of monolithic systems and legacy technologies. With Notaría Virtual, we made the strategic decision to migrate towards a modern ecosystem based on TypeScript, Vue, and Node.js.

The result is an incredibly reactive and fast user interface. Notary employees no longer have to wait for pages to reload to check a file; they have the information instantly. This frontend modernization has been key to the massive adoption of the platform.

The Future: Artificial Intelligence

We don't stop at the present. We are actively orchestrating ecosystems of multiple AI agents to assist in both deployment automation and system operations. This allows us to drastically reduce time-to-market and offer smarter support to our users.

Notaría Virtual is more than just software; it's the digital core of the notaries of tomorrow. And continuing to lead its architectural evolution is undoubtedly one of the most exciting challenges of my career.
